CollinDesigning instruction to support students and staff is a passion of mine. I have learned to use hypertext markup language (html), cascading style sheets (css) to create web pages that separate content (html) and design (css) for delivering web based content. I know how to use video, pictures, screen capture tools like Captivate, and animation tools like Flash to create learning materials that take advantage of the dual coding learning process that allow users to activate their visual and language systems to learn content. I also use Learning management systems, like Moodle and Black board, to organize and deliver content in a self-paced or instructor lead manner.

My Learning

learningMy Masters degree in Information Learning Technologies was conducted entirely online. During the program, I learned to communicate, collaborate, and manage projects using online tools across distance and time. It gave me the opportunity to master communicating in an online environment. I worked on many projects to demonstrate different competencies that are chronicled in my UCD portfolio. I'm connected to professional groups to stay current with technology and I read for my own self guided professional development.

My Work

WorkIn my current position, I am the Colorado Technology Readiness Coordinator for Online Assessment. Responsibilities include design, document, and support training for Colorado districts to prepare their online assessment environments. Work collaboratively with vendors, contractors, other departments, and school district technology leaders to insure that they are prepared for online assessments. I'm proficient with Adobe eLearning software programs Captivate, Presenter, and Dreamweaver to create on-line support for software.Here are some selected examples of my past work.

Google Apps

Google AppsII have been responsible for designing department websites. I have lead a project where we migrated a site from the Blackboard platform into Google Apps. I was charged with creating a site that is the primary source of communication for the department; serving online support for our IEP software, provide connections to our sub groups within our department. I was required to respond and redesign our site based on requests from department leadership and users.I have achieved a Google Apps Individual Qualification and manage my own Google apps domain.
